Subject: Kobbe Kid, 1971 -1974 Dear Jack, From: Lori Davis Wow, I was born in 1964. My dad was stationed at Fort Kobbe my first, second and third grade years 1970-1973. What memories you have brought back. I do remember the Spanish teacher, the shark net, elementary school, the airport, the bridge that raised up to let the ships go underneath, the hospital, the commissary that had the daycare (tent) in the parking lot & even the girl scouts selling cookies in front, the canal zone, the rain, ginnups, mangos, our banana tree in our back yard, the piñatas, movie theater.. ..do you remember the carnivals? It seems there was a carnival all the time somewhere. OMG, how old do I feel right now! I traveled many places being an army brat; I can actually say that Panama was the most beautiful place I had ever lived. Thank you for letting me have some great memories! Panama :32 AM hi sandy, i lived in the canal zone h.a.f.b. from 74-77 and have looked at your site! Friday, December 12, 2008 7:01 AM Ft. Kobbe Friday, October 31, 2008 12:50 pm Thanks you for your interest. The topic, "Are you a Zonian?" has been debated many times by many people for many years. I was there in the early 60's and was high school age, but I have no idea if you will know the people that I will mention. By the way, did you know that the Gov. of the Canal Zone was a U.S. Army General. I wonder if he felt he was a Zonian. HEY SANDY- HERE ARE A FEW OF THE NAMES NOT ON YOUR LIST..
From: HI, Sandy. Some memories are getting fuzzy, but others will live on, on & on.
Sandy; Thanks. Artie Subject: Kobbe Hi Jack,
Our family lived in Farfan and I attended Kobbe Elementary for 6th grade in 1964-65. Then I went to Curundu for the next two years before we moved to California. For our 25th anniversary my husband took me on a Panama Canal cruise and I saw many familiar sites. We only got off the ship in Cristobal so I didn't get to nose around the old homestead but at least I was close! Subject: RE: Howard kid Date: Saturday, January 31, 2009, 3:25 PM Good Evening Jack, TK Hinshaw
Subject: Re: Howard kid Jack From: Hinshaw I was a Howard kid and I recognize a few names, how do I go about adding mine or contacting a few on the list?
Lived on Ft Kobbe 1951-1952 (3rd and 4th Grades). Three years ago, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and I am convinced that there is some connection with the DDT spraying that went on at the base every evening when we were outside playing in the streets. I remember all of us kids chasing behind the trucks as they drove through the base. IS there anyone else out there in this predicament? My neurologist is interested in doing a longitudinal study to see if there is any correlation. Thanks to anyone that can help me. Patricia McDOnald Carpenter

Lived A Howard AFB from 79-82. Loved it!! I was on the school board at Fort Kobbe. Jerilyn Alf I am not a Kobbe Kid but I do envy you. I was in the Army at Kobbe from 1958 until 1960, and as you can see by my user name I haven't fotgotten. Coming from a big city, I thought that Kobbe was heaven. You were very privileged to grow up there. Tom Joyce I was at Howard AFB from 91-93 and before that I lived on Amador for a year. It has been so amazingly difficult to ever discuss anything about my tour there. I was living there within weeks after Just Cause and as you well know, there were tensions between EVERYONE down there at that time. That made things just a touch more "savage" in my transition there. I would love to see if I might not be able to find some of my friends.......time to dig up the old year books. Anyone who lived there and came back to the United States knows that any legnth of time in Panama had a profound impact on all of our lives. I am just glad to have found a place where I can visit in my private time and reflect on my life when I was there. Thank You! Emily Anne Reynolds
You were a privileged group to have the opportunity to live in such a wonderful environment. I was born and raised in the Canal Zone, joined the Air Force in 1975, was stationed at Howard AFB 82-88 and 95-99. Retired 1999, Howard AFB. The CZ was one of the best places in the world to live, work and bring up a family! Javier Soriano I
moved to Panama 2 years after I was born in 1986 and moved back to the Very
nostalgic. I spent 3 tours there in the AF. 77 to 79 when Carter Bill Wagner I was stationioned at Fort Kobbe c/company weapons platoon m 60 machine gun and 90 mm recoilless rifle from about august 1966 thru about august 1967. Welcome home all my bros and may [god] bless you and your family now and forever [amen] from my family to yours. Great Site. Keep it coming...Airborne all the way What a great look into the past! My absolute favorite was the pic of ginnups! They had to be my most favorite fruit! We were stationed at Albrook but I remember all the great trips our family took on weekends. The shark net sure brought back memories too. I would love to here from anyone who remembers me or my family. We lived at Albrook and also in Pannama City. I must have been 8-9yrs old at the time, I'm 45yrs now. I was on a swim team at Albrook. I can't remember the name of my school, but I remember a few teachers. Ms DeLaPina and Ms Faucet > must have been my 3rd or 4th grade teachers. I also remember the Balboa club house in Balboa. We lived at Albrook during the riots and had a few families stay with us during the uprise. Henrietta Rose Cabrera/Heldt

I havent been back in 10 years. Im 24 now, and i dream of riding my skateboard down kobbe hill on my way to kobbe flats to visit my freinds. I still remeber my phone number! Somethings you never forget. Kobbe kids Rule! Kobbe Raiders Rule. Kobbe Elementry Rules...they say! That heaven is more beautiful then your dreams! Well it better be beautiful if it plans to top FT KOBBE. who knows.. maybe it is ft Kobbe. A land of Grass Fields! Pablo Manuel Vangas "slinky" Having lived at Howard from '66 to '69 I could easily see thru the lens of Gary Strong's camera. Wow! Thanks, Gary. Great work. Great eye. I just wish I would have had the maturity and perspective at 16 to have savored it with such a sense of beauty and place. The shot of the cayuco in the mangroves at Venado is special. In 66 and 67, I was one of the Venado boys who spent countless hours surfing in the "mangies", eating fried plantains at the cantina, and munching "raspados con leche" in the village. Gary, you "speaka my language". To the creators of this site, Thank You! Lou Nelms
I am tickled to death to find it and hope it will help me find some of the people I have been looking for for years. I lived in Ft Kobee from 1962 to 1964 and went to Balboa High School. I was a very skinny, very shy plain jane and loved horses. I had some of the very best years of my life at Ft Kobbe. Laura Laird Causey
